Dragster was born in Febraury 2004, just after the 16th Annual UK Filk Convention, "16 Tones", in Bromsgrove, during which the two band members had sung their first song - "My Hamster's Out To Get Me" - together. The song received enough praise (no-one tried to pull us off stage mid-song), that it was decided to do more, a whole hour long set at the 17th Annual UK Filk Convention, "Dixseption", in Portsmouth. The band was given its name - Dragster - as a combination of the dragon and hamster interests of the two members, and is depicted in the band logo. The first set was very well received, even winning a 'Best at Con' SAMS award for "Gandalf the Red", and Dragster just had to keep on singing...
