Taking A Break
|
It was a quiet UK filk convention for Dragster in 2007. Having had sets at the previous two, it was time to step aside and spend some time relaxing and listening. We did perform one song in the Main Concert - "Ordon Village Idiot" - which was a working title to begin with, and officially still is until we find a better one! It was well received, and gave us confidence that, despite not performing together for eight months and having a bit of a songwriting drought, we still had the ability to pull off a pretty good performance and entertain people.
We performed a few old favourites (and by favourites, we mean 'our favourites'!), in the Saturday night circle, because we can't resist performing a bit when we have the chance. It was a fun time, and sad that it had to end so quickly. In the filk auction, Azakir picked up an electronic drum kit box thing... what that might mean for the future of the band, we just don't know, although we're hoping that even a bit of simple rhythm might stop us from suffering the 'lyrical accelerator' syndrome that sometimes catches us out!
As this is written, we really don't know whether we will be requesting a set in 2008's convention, 2T0nic. It's going to be busy, most likely, with it being the 20th National UK Filk Convention, but then, being back at the Grantham Marriott Hotel, the same hotel in which we performed our 'Apologies For Any Inconvenience' set at the 18th UK Convention, it might feel a bit too nostlagic for us to resist. Watch this space!!
